All In! Redesigning Democracy at the Bundeskunsthalle is over, but after the exhibition is before the exhibition. In preparation for the opening in Dresden, the participants of the Dresden Gesellschaftsforum were invited to three co-curation workshops to think about adapting the exhibition to the East German context together with the curatorial team.

The discussion, moderated by the thoughtful  Yi-Cong Lu, can be summarized in two main findings: Firstly, it is necessary to present the special democratic history of East Germany in a clear and comprehensive way and to place it in the context of West German history as well as major European and world events. Secondly, the desire was repeatedly expressed that visitors should be able to exchange ideas with each other and show their different perspectives on the events and ideas presented in the exhibition. Ideas include a regular get-together, a special wristband that people willing to talk can use to identify themselves in the exhibition, and a tool that can be used to discuss questions that arise in the exhibition halls in a way that is visible to everyone.

The results of the research are currently being formulated in a new concept for the exhibition in Dresden and are to be implemented in 2026/27.
