As part of the 2023 Colectivos Pláka course, Becoming Assembly, Amelie Klein and Vera Sacchetti led a day on Horizontality in contemporary design.
Can we shape design to create open-endedness, possibilities, and empowerment? This day looked at how the discipline needs to change to embrace restraint, allowing for collective learning and unlearning. We turned to spatial practice and examined how we can collectively create space, space that people can use for learning, gathering, exchanging knowledge, and deliberating. Through expert inputs and collective ideating, we will create active proposals for dismantling current spatial typologies associated with the oligarchic systems that we live in today.
